Blean Woodland is an RSPB National Nature Reserve with multiple walking trails through habitats of lesser seen British wildlife. Encompassing 500 Hectares of wild space, from thick woodland to gentle heath between Whitstable and Canterbury. A favourite for local dog walkers and wildlife enthusiasts.

The Woodlands of Blean are a luscious escape from the towns and cities. Cut off from the noise, you can explore one of the many guided walking trails. Depending on what time of year it is, you may be lucky enough to spot some of the native species such as Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers and Nightingales. The woodland houses a variety of different habitats from mighty Oak trees in the high forest to the butterfly filled coppice woodland and a multitude of glades and heaths.
Conservation projects are underway within the woodland to promote wildlife and to preserve habitats. Coppicing; the act of cutting and rejuvenating trees, creates a dense thicket perfect for nesting birds such as Nightingales. Other parts of the woods are less touched by humans such as the large oak and beech trees that are left to rot and decay in order to create habitats for animals such as bats and invertebrates.
Blean Woods presents a different experience from season to season. With heavy avian populations in the spring to magical fungi sprouting in autumn, the walks and trails are a soothing and calm afternoon out for anyone looking for peace of mind.
