Regular contributor for The Wall
Whitstable.co.uk · Whitstable
Closes 30 November 2026
About the role
The Wall is the part of Whitstable.co.uk that isn't written by us. Contributors get their own space — their own name on it, their own subject, their own readers. Past ones ran spaces called My Pet Oyster, Keeping Mum and An Alien Eye, which tells you how wide the brief is.
We're looking for two or three people to write there regularly. Regularly can mean monthly, or whenever something occurs to you.
To be straight about it: this is unpaid. What you get is a permanent page under your own name, editing if you want it, and your pieces going out in our weekly newsletter and on social. Whitstable.co.uk is a commercial site, and we'd rather say so plainly than have you find out later.
What we're looking for
Someone who lives in or near Whitstable and has something they keep wanting to say about it. Writing experience is not required. A clear voice matters more than a tidy one, and I'll help with the rest.
No particular subject. Music, food, parenting, the sea, the council, whatever you find yourself thinking about. If you take photographs or make things, that works here too.
If you'd like to try it, send me a paragraph about what you'd write and roughly how often. It doesn't need to be a formal application, and I'll always reply.
What's included
Applications go direct to Whitstable.co.uk.
