About National Theatre Live: The Misanthrope
National Theatre Live returns to the Playhouse screen with The Misanthrope, Martin Crimp's razor-sharp reworking of Molière's classic comedy, directed by Indhu Rubasingham. Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) plays Alice, a celebrated novelist with no patience for the polite lies that keep modern society running. The more honestly she speaks, the harder the world pushes back — and the more she has to weigh what plain truth really costs. Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre in London, it's a witty, biting evening of theatre brought to Whitstable without the trip up to town. It screens on Thursday 15 October 2026 at 7pm, tickets £12, with the Playhouse bar open beforehand.
